He has done his medical graduation and postgraduate training in General Surgery from the prestigious Seth GSMC and KEM Hospital, Mumbai. Dr. Rahul Gupta has been part of liver transplant team at Jaslok Hospital and Research Centre where he learned complex hepatobiliary procedures alongwith deceased donor liver transplantation. As a part of the team, he assisted donor as well as recipient hepatectomy, back table preparation and was involved in perioperative care of the transplant recipients.
