Job Presentation

Our client is very well known International retailer. They have been in India for more than a decade now having more than 90 stores present across.


* Up-to-date analysis of the retail environment & competition in existing and potential territories.
* Strategic processes which are relevant, actionable and aligned to the overall Group Strategy and which deliver tangible and intangible benefits for new and existing businesses.
* Use of appropriate external, independent sources of information to assess the opportunities for territory expansion.
* An Operating Plan process which aligns commercial goals across the India business and has robust and consistent measures of success.
* Accurate, timely and actionable Management Information reflecting the key commercial for any store indicators.
* A coordinated risk management process which supports the strategic growth of the India business.
* Provide a detailed city study of the recommended cities detailing where the different micro markets are, the customer city/area demographics, what retail space is available and what the competition are currently doing/planning to do in that city.
* Plan and deliver the no. of stores and size of stores in conjunction with the format strategy, supporting the financial case.
* Financially and strategically evaluate schemes prior to presenting them to the Head of Property for approval. Manage the capital approval process.
* Negotiate and close property deals to deliver the required number of profitable stores to fulfil the rolling 5-year plan in line with the required return on capital.
* Manage relationships with developers, property agents and landlords to ensure M&S is seen as a key brand to sign within the Indian retail market.
* Evaluate stores following their opening and be held accountable for the profitability versus the projected numbers presented to the Head of Property during approval process.
* Manage the lease renewal process for the existing stores in the region ensuring guarantee of tenure.
* Deliver the Tier I and Tier II strategy. Manage the process from board approval to opening in a timely and cost effective manner in line with the brand principles, agreed ways of working and approved CAPEX.
* Ensuring all 3rd party suppliers have a clear contract in place with a clear service level agreement which adheres to our corporate social responsibility principles and performance measures. Ensure each contract is measured to ensure value for money and compliance of our terms of business

The Successful Applicant

- Must have an experience of more than 10 years

- Should be familiar with opening large format stores

- Should have prior experience with an MNC

- MBA Preferred

- Integrity is of utmost importance
